Description
Years ago, a coffee company, inspired by a poem titled The Humble Coffee Tree, offered this advice:
“Draw from your roots. Always reach upward. Always reach out. And always give back.”
That’s not far from the Christian life.
Like a tree sends roots deep for water, we send our roots into Jesus Christ.
We reach upward to God in praise and prayer.
We reach outward to others in love and service.
This is the posture of a believer: rooted in Christ, reaching up in worship, and reaching out in love. And it is inseparable from gratitude.
Today, we’ll explore three movements of biblical gratitude from Hebrews 13:15-16:
- Draw from your roots – Rooted in Christ\
- Reach upward – Sacrifice of praise
- Reach outward – Gratitude in action
