O Come Let Us Adore Him - Recentering on the Christ of Christmas
This season, we remember a single, decisive act: God moved into our world. He intervened; He stepped into our world through the incarnation of His Son, Jesus Christ. His eternal Son, and co‑creator from eternity past, chose to set aside His rights, His safety, and His life, and to take human form through a human mother, living a human life, and, in the end, to die sacrificially in our place on a Roman cross.
Paul describes this movement as Christ “emptying Himself” and “taking the form of a servant.” The incarnation is the lived expression of the mind of Christ.
As we gather in this season of waiting and wonder, we will consider why God intervened for creation, who He sent, the particular form His intervention took, and how the season shapes our response.
